Tutorial - Page Creation

This is generally how a standard comic page is created. SYAC tends to be a bit quicker since I don't need to get approval on each strip.

"Flossed in Time: Page 1" has been reprinted here with permission from the brentalfloss comics team. If you'd like to read the whole comic that this page comes from you can follow this link: [link]

I know this is probably a bad idea, but since I've only ever done short one pager chibi style comics, I usually just stick to even sized squares that I've drawn up in AutoCAD. Odd program to use, I know.

@ProjectZuel I made the changes because I felt they helped the panel to panel flow. That is also why I send them sketches first before I go to inking, because I want to make sure that my changes or my page layouts are what they're looking for.

I can see large changes in character placement and some minor tweeks to dialogue at the sketch stage. Did you do these immediatly after reading the email script or did you email Dan Roth and mention the changes you wanted to make and got those approved?

Why did you only draw a circle for the head and not shapes for the bodies?

@Oriet I tweak the comic in Photoshop before I begin coloring. We're human and we're prone to mistakes. Some people use white-out and redraw things if they screwed up, but I prefer to just do it all in the digital realm.

I tend to use the pencil tool because it yields the same harsh outline with no "feathering" to muddy up my artwork (as discussed previously in my anti-alias tutorial).

@kathlynn During the "Flossed in Time" storyline the brentalfloss comic updated Tuesdays through Fridays. Now that we're back to the normal release schedule it's updated only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

@Flying I used blue-line comic book art board, specifically #BL1003-24 which can be purchased at bluelineart.com

I chose it for this comic because we wanted to make it into an actual comic book eventually.

On a completely unrelated topic, you changed your Favorite icon for SYACartoonist.com. And you thought no one would notice. Shame on you!

You know, it's funny. These tutorials you've been doing are pretty much how I'd go about doing things, myself. My sprite comic probably could've used a script back when I was still doing it, for example... Heh.

how often does the other comic update? I cannot find any information about that on the site.
