The Manga Artist

Rule #1: NEVER say in front of an auditorium full of art students, all of who are working hard to get passing grades in figure drawing and observation, that perspective doesn’t apply to you because you draw Manga... cuz that’s BS...

OH MY GOD
THE IRONING
LORD THE IRONING

11:33am Wed 2nd May #8319996

hahahaha, I know the feeling...although I am a high schooler... for about a month more.

Still having a ton of problems with perspective. But really, that kid needs to be hung upside down.

Was that thunder outside?

9:08am Sun 19th Feb #8186418

I had a kid come up to my register at an arts & craft store that I work at and he asked me if I knew what the best way to learn to draw manga would be. He was obviously hinting at were he could find manga drawing books.

My answer to him: Wait ten more years and go to art school.

These are the guys that give the anime-drawers bad names... Not all of us are like this. I just recently figured out how to use perspective - and I'm very glad I did.
Truth is, I would slap the kid for calling his NON-JAPANESE LANGUAGE COMICS "manga". Then I would beat the ever-loving crap out of him for that stupid little perspective comment.

Giving artists everywhere who enjoy drawing anime/manga a very bad name.

I thought children learnt in primary school that everything, western comics, anime/manga, real life, everything has perspective. He deserved a punch in the face in my opinion -_-

Obviously, that obnoxious high-schooler has never read One Piece.

If you don't need to learn anything, GTFO plz... Geez! Last time I saw that I challenge her to do the same photo as I. I win, and she had to eat her words...

8:38pm Fri 9th Dec #8184567

wtf in manga perspective is almost everything i love it cuz the pictures are appealing and if the perspective's off then the pretty much throws off the picture
i want to be a mangaka and perspective is one of the number 1 things i need to work on

12:32pm Fri 9th Dec #8184548

God, I hate people like that.... I like drawing anime and even I know that you need to learn perspective to be an artist...

I feel the same way..

College dudes generally hate kids from middle school to high school. I'm starting to see why.

11:52am Thu 1st Dec #8184334

Gah!!! I just want to take those idiots out back and shoot them!!!!

3:34pm Wed 30th Nov #8184311

I draw anime and manga and I think perspective is important....whatever that guy thinks, you need to learn perspective in every kind of drawing you do. If you dont then your just drawing a face, shoulders, and a body, staring at nothing.

I've always wanted to better my drawing skills. Can anyone point me to a good art college? I was planning on going to UAT but if there's something better I'd like to know.

What's funny is, I stopped drawing the stereotypical manga way back in 5th grade, I started drawing realistic fantasy in 7th, and I still do that today. My best friend until 9th grade can't draw anything original, and claims she will be the best. I've always told her, unless you can draw something no one has every scene before, and be good at, and take class to become one of the best, you will only be the girl that can copy someone else's work. So I toke a Entertainment Communications Over MultiMedia class, and she toke 2D art. I worked with animation, web design, film and Graphic design. She worked with 2D art. I'm a "certified" Apple user. She works with pencils. I pretty sure I beat her in terms of expanding my horizons from manga to the real world.

@WeirdGirl14
I TOTALLY agree! ^^

8:46am Fri 14th Oct #8182970

Where the hell is that idiot coming from? Intense disrespect to the instructor aside, why is he even present if he's just going to refute what the event is supposed about without even letting the speaker finish their first statement? Is he just there to brag about his "anime"?

Also, is that guy in the blue shirt behind the moron a cameo of Supadave, artist of GG-Guys? Or is it just a coincidence that it looks just like him?

6:29pm Thu 13th Oct #8182910

Um... If you're going to draw Manga, you've got to draw with perspective. No one is going to want to read manga where things are a)disproportionate to the people when they're supposed to be normal size, or b) way out of perspective. Hate to break it to you, arrogant blonde guy in the front.

9:23am Sun 9th Oct #8182703

Okay...I draw manga style, but I want to make it realistic as I can (I prefer realistic-ness), and of course, perspective DOES apply. I also find it hilarious where the woman said, "Tools of Trade to make Manga" and then guy said what he said...someone wasn't listening. :)

1:24pm Mon 3rd Oct #8182538

I don't draw in persepective very well...and my shading sucks...but that's cause I'm still learning all that stuff. Is it okay for me to wanna punch someone like that in the face. That and the people who treat any kind of manga as an excuse to make porn or giant chested women. >.>
