Soulless Byproduct

I love my pencil sketches. Sometimes I think that when I ink my work I loose some of the initial life and energy of the gesture.

i could be because when you change your ines it doesn't look as fluid as it usually does in pencil.

Same here. Once I color, it suddenly feels dead.

It's like that for me, except my work starts off as a sketch and ends up still a sketch... but a dead one.

Same here, buddy... Same here... -_-

God, I feel the same way...

Many a great Sketch have I ruined by coloring it. Most times, if it is amazing without being altered, I just leave it.
and then I think to myself, "wow! that's one amazing picture! I'm sooo glad i didn't color it...."
then i tweak it...
and then i end up ruining the simple perfection of the original art... T_T I wish that the perfectionist in me would go somewhere else when i look at my art...

Ditttooo...
I love my sketches but sometimes I wanna give em some colour. Then they look stupid. >^<

I have the same problem. It just kinda starts, when I'm supposed to put clothes on my sketches *shudder* (I'm beginner. I sketch them naked first!)

Same here.

I feel the same way. I especially hate it when I'm just doodling initial ideas out, it comes out great, and then the finished product looks too rigid.

Cool, can you recomend good inking pens?

2:06pm Fri 5th Aug #8181918

I often feel that way about my own drawings. Really cool to see the different stages of your work in this comic.

I like my pencils better too...but nobody but me can make sense of them because there are random lines all over the place. Hence, inking. *sigh*

Yeah... I like my pencils, but I usually kill my drawing by inking them

so true, if i really (really) like a sketch, i tend to redraw it - then finish the copy. (possibly why i go through so much paper.)

facial expressions are hilarious, esp last panel. :)

I have a special love for sketches and hate that people don't consider them art because they're not "finished". You can't get the same fluidity and expression from a finished piece as easily.

When I rub out the lines my pen rubs out a little too. :c

Sometimes I'm just doodling awfully ugly stuff, then I see how GREAT expressions they have! That's so freakin' annoying... -.-'

Soul less!
