Recess

I’ve never stopped drawing. Even as a kid I remember distinctly drawing large pictures in the sand of Mario, Link, Indiana Jones, etc. I can’t tell you how often this happened, and how much delight kids got out of destroying my innocent drawings.

its crazy when people dont stop to even recognize talent before the stomp all over it (figuritive and literal in this case.)

They were just jelaous, as any other patetic little kids in my school, I buried pencils in their hands...

Wow. Maybe I should've posted the comment in the last comic in this one instead. The ability to draw was always my salvation, not my curse.

I was bullied a large part of my life so I know this feeling >.<
Though I drew a lot when I was younger but not that good O3O sweetness ^3^

Ah yes, quality time alone in the sandbox. Alone until some jackass comes along and ruins your day. That was all of early elementary school until third grade, at which point I simply gave up on that and dedicated recess time to just wandering around the playground/school yard, avoiding contact with other kids, or hiding under structures to play my GBA without getting caught by the playground staff.

I remember when I had no friends at one point in 3rd grade, everyday at recess, I would create castles out of dirt and work EXTREMELY hard on it (and they were pretty big too)
But then these kids would come and kick it down, jump on it and leave.

I didn't draw in the dirt but there were always those kids who would go, "Wow that's cool, can I see it?" I'd say, "sure." 9/10 times a penis magically appeared when it returned to me. Does no one who does what we do understand the work that we sometimes put into this stuff???

Remember those playgrounds where the ground was covered in teeny rocks? I'd build sculptures and moats and draw in them. I remember the first kid who decided it'd be fun to destroy it. He kicked it in my face as I was making the little alligator for the moat. I cried. The second time, I cried. The third time, I punched him in the face and bit his arm. I got kicked out for three days. I was never bothered again.

I was the girl who wrote stories on the white boards when nobody else was in the room. Since my mom worked a lot, I ended up staying after school waiting for her to pick me up, and usually ended up in the school's multi-purpose room, which had a huge white board. Since I always lost my paper and pencils, I would write on the white board. But a jerky little kid walked in on me a couple times and teased the crap out of me for it.

I used to do that ALL THE TIME- draw on chalk on the walls, or make tiny gardens. Then the 7-year-olds would ruin them... I once drew a picture of Seth for an art project, and someone added a peeing... thing you pee with. What an a!hole.

Some of the best artist had these problems, even when they were adults and well-known... Trolls exist in every age.

I would sit on my chair in the classroom and read a book. So they tormented me. It was either that or the fact that I fought with their friends who were my classmates the previous year) even some nice people tormented me.
