Q and A - Experiment and Internet

I think everyone should experiment when they have time. It’s good mental exercise and can often help influence the creation of your artistic style. However, there is a limit for me and I don’t think it’s a good idea to experiment in the middle of writing a long running series. Which is one of the reasons why I’ve been so stubborn about experimenting with SYAC, Alex Ze Pirate, and etc. They’ve got a set style I want to maintain and changing all that on a whim would ruin the consistency of the stories.

We had a program called “Prodigy” back in the 80‘s which allowed computers to connect to other computers to share information. It was effectively the internet, just not in the form that we’re used to today. As a kid I used it to download Game Genie codes for my NES and upload funny drawings I made in “Deluxe Paint Animation,” usually centered around Barney the Dinosaur doing something gross and horrible to the other dinosaurs because... I was a kid and I hated Barney.

@Adobson thanks for the answer, but I think you miss understood my question, It wasn't rather you did computer drawings, but your thoughts on how popular you've became on DA and being part of Fresh Epics (aka 'own website'..)

edit by your picture I know you miss understood my question, (I wasn't speaking French (no offence to anyone who speaks French) btw great picture, it's the most confused I've seen your cartoon guy, I have a strange feeling of glee knowing my question made you draw that :evillaugh: yet at the same time it kind of hurt my feelings, you even didn't talk about the website.. :(

Hogod... Prodigy. T_T MY parents refused to pay for that when I was a kid and it was still new. I wanted to go Nickelodeon's Prodigy thing so bad! D:

But it wasn't all bad. I had some local BBSes (Bulletin Board Services -- think "the internet as seen through a Windows command prompt/console box")! Legend of the Red Dragon, baby! :D

I remember Prodigy. I never used it, though. In 1996, though, I had a unix account with a university that I was going to, and I'd dial up to connect to it with a 12 baud modem (came with the computer), and I installed a program in my unix account called Slurp that allowed me to bridge my account to an internet connection instead of simple telnet. Eventually the University started offering dial up internet.

Of course when I was on the internet, I used IRC :) And I still do. *heh*

@FactChecker I only said the program was from the 80's. Around 1984 to be exact. But the program lasted well beyond and into the 90's. So yes I was making parodies of Barney with an 80's program.

FactCheck:
Barney did not come out until 1992, therefore you couldn't have been uploading parodies in the 80's.

HAHA you made fan art of Barney! Nice! How old were you when you made it?
