Internet Prefaces

You’ve all seen or experienced this, right? You go to try and talk about something and there’s always that one person who feels obligated to “remind” everyone about an issue tangentially related to the topic out of some sense of internet duty? It’s an unwritten rule, but I see it everywhere. Especially so if it has to do with anything geek related like video games and movies.

You liked Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? Be sure to mention that River Phoenix died!
Talking about the Spiderman trilogy? Be sure to mention the American flag and emo Parker!
You love Disney movies? Oh be sure to mention all the untrue “subliminal messages” they insert into everything!
You like the Ps3? Don’t forget to mention the internet blackout and lack of games!
You love Simpsons? Be sure to give a shout out to Family Guy and South Park too!
You love Zelda games? Keep reminding everyone about those god-awful CD-i games no one bought!
You like Star Wars? Be sure to point out the prequels sucked and remind everyone about Jar-Jar!

Is anyone else TIRED of this sort of thing?

It's sad that one man's actions killed people, hurt movie sales, and scared people so much that they actually had to check our bags at the movie theater... but the question that's pressing on my mind is what was your opinion of the Dark Knight Rises?

(Also, just for the record I want to that I love the Star Wars prequels, even if they aren't as good as the originals.)

Is that a "Giant Squid of Anger" from the Vlogbrothers?

Totally agree. It doesn't matter what yer into, it doesn't matter what you talk about, there's always someone that feels the need to play the "holier than thou" part and try to make you feel worse about something because of something either totally irrelevant or has no bearing on the current situation even if it is relevant.

For example, no matter how much I love the Sonic series and talk about it someone always tries to bring up Sonic 06 and how people should feel bad for liking Sonic because of it. Totally discounting the fact that I DID like Sonic 06 regardless of it's horrible programming that has nothing to do with why I want the series to continue. Especially since they made that mistake only once and every game after that has been, at the very least, fully programmed and subjectivity on quality aside the games always worked well from that point on but people act like Sonic 06 killed the franchise forever despite the success of Generations.

You almost have a valid point, that your opinion of the movie has no relevance to the shootings. But then you throw a massive, infantile tantrum over people expecting you to at least acknowledge one of the worst shootings in American history. AND you compare it to actors making bad movies, flaws with online video game service, and bad Zelda games. You should be ashamed of yourself.

@Luftmensch
You're right, it was tragic, extremely so. But that doesn't make it relevant to one's opinion of the movie itself. If I'm telling you that I like (or don't like) school, does that automatically mean that I MUST bring up Columbine? No. Yes, the massacre, a true tragedy and something that shouldn't be forgotten or cast off, happened at the movie. But it doesn't REALLY have anything to do with the movie itself. The two are separate entities that can be discussed separately as well.
I also think its important that the movie IS discussed outside the massacre, otherwise every time people see, hear about, or think about it, they'll be reminded of what happened in Colorado, which isn't always a good thing. I want to have pleasant thoughts, not sad ones. There's a time for grieving, certainly, but there's also a time to talk about a work of cinema without feeling ready to cry because of an event that happened at one showing of the movie.

It may not have even sent; I think I lost signal (phone) before it sent. Sorry! But anyway...

The Dark Knight incident is different from the others described. The shooter was actually TRYING to kill people. It was INTENTIONAL. All of the other incidents (Titanic, Zelda games, everything) were accidental and had good intentions. That's what makes this different.

@hyperstar96 I haven't deleted any comments aside from one spam one that wasn't yours. I don't know why your comment didn't save, I'll look into it.
